KB Adventures has its roots in Cusco and honoring our Pachamama has always been one of our core values. For that reason, social responsibility and sustainability are of the upmost importance to us and we take every opportunity we can to give back to our land and community. We come together throughout the year for regular trail cleanups, annual toy donations to communities in the Andes, and we host celebratory events to say thank you to our incredible staff that make all of our adventures possible.
Salkantay Clean Up
We have always believed in leaving the trail better than you found it, and that is why were the first tour operator in Cusco to organize an annual Salkantay Trail Clean Up. Since 2012 our staff has come together every January with a garbage bag and garbage pick in hand to hike for two days on the Salkantay Trek, cleaning up litter along the way. We provide our own transportation, lodging, horses, cleanup material, and food for our personnel too. All garbage bags are taken with us to be properly disposed of at our final destination in Santa Teresa. This year (2019) we filled a record 23 bags of trash!
Started in 2013, we host an annual Christmas toy donation for the families of Challacancha and Palcca. These two towns are located near Salkantay and Rainbow Mountain, respectively, and have been fundamental to our success and growth as a tour operator in Cusco. Every year KB Tours purchases toys from local Cusqueñan toy stores to use in our donation, and with the help of our staff, we travel to each town for a full day of gift giving and holiday celebration. These families do not have many of the resources found in the more affluent parts of the world, so every year we aim to bring smiles to their faces and joy to their hearts as we make their day as special for them as possible.
